X Engagement Rate and Account Stats Calculator

Type in the numbers from a post or a batch of posts. You get engagement rate two ways, the reply-to-like ratio, and quick account ratios.

Posts you are measuring

Totals across all the posts. Enter what you can see on each post or in X's analytics.

The account

Optional. Used for follower ratio and posts per day.

Short answer

Engagement rate on X is usually calculated as total engagements (likes, reposts, replies, quotes and bookmarks) divided by followers, or divided by views. This calculator does both, plus replies per like, followers per account followed and lifetime posts per day.

Key takeaways

  • Engagement rate by views is closer to what X analytics reports; rate by followers lets you compare accounts when views aren't available.
  • More replies than likes usually means a post is being argued with.
  • A lifetime average above 72 posts a day (one every 20 minutes, nonstop) is hard to reach by hand.
  • There is no universal "good" engagement rate. Compare against your own past posts.

What do the results mean?

Each figure answers a different question about the same posts.

Result Formula What it tells you
Engagements per post engagements ÷ posts Raw interaction per post
Engagement rate by followers engagements ÷ posts ÷ followers × 100 How much of your audience reacts
Engagement rate by views engagements ÷ views × 100 How many people who saw it reacted
Views per post as % of followers views ÷ posts ÷ followers × 100 Whether posts travel beyond your followers
Replies per like replies ÷ likes Agreement versus argument
Followers per account followed followers ÷ following Follow-back patterns
Posts per day total posts ÷ days since joining How hard the account posts

How do I measure an account I don't own?

Use the public numbers on recent posts and the profile, and accept that views are the only reach figure you get.

Pick 10 to 20 recent original posts (skip reposts), add up likes, reposts, replies and quotes, and note the total views. Enter the post count, the totals and the follower count from the profile. That's enough for a fair engagement rate by views and by followers. The search builder helps here: from:username -filter:replies on the Latest tab lists original posts.

Can stats reveal a bot or a fake following?

They can raise a flag, never settle the question.

Patterns worth noticing: huge follower counts with tiny engagement on every post, an account following thousands with almost nobody following back, or a lifetime posting rate no person could keep up. Feed those numbers into the troll and bot checklist along with what you see in the replies. The bot network guide explains why the replies tell you more than any ratio.

Questions people ask

How is engagement rate calculated?

By followers: total engagements divided by the number of posts, divided by followers, times 100. By views: total engagements divided by total views, times 100. The calculator counts likes, reposts, replies, quotes and bookmarks as engagements.

What is a good engagement rate on X?

It depends on account size, topic and how you count. Big accounts almost always have lower rates than small ones. Rather than chase an industry number, track your own posts over time and see which kinds do better.

Where do I find views and bookmarks?

Open a post on its own page and the view and bookmark counts sit under it with the other numbers. Account owners get fuller figures in X analytics.

What does "ratioed" mean?

A post is ratioed when it gets more replies (or quote posts) than likes. It usually means people are pushing back. The calculator shows replies per like so you can spot it.

Does this tool read data from X?

No. You type the numbers in yourself. Nothing is fetched or stored.
